Proof of Insurance - Collateral Protection Insurance (CPI)
At your earliest convenience, members with an auto loan should update the lienholder by contacting your insurance provider or updating it easily through your provider’s mobile app (if available) to:
No further action is needed from you, as the insurance company will then provide NCU with the necessary proof of insurance.
We must verify that members have the proper comprehensive and collision coverage for their auto loan in order to avoid charging CPI. We need information from the insurance policy: the amount of the deductible ($1,500 or less) and showing Neighborhood CU as the lienholder. Note that Insurance ID cards are not acceptable as proof of insurance.

What is needed to meet proof of insurance requirements?

Dedicated Merger Team on December 7, 2024
After December 7, 2024
- Banking regulations and the cost of operating a smaller credit union have created challenges to RelyOn CU's long-term future.
- RelyOn CU is limited in their ability to provide the financial products, services and technologies larger credit unions can offer.
- The cost of building new locations has risen significantly, which limits the level of convenience for RelyOn CU members.
- Finding qualified volunteers to serve on RelyOn CU's board has been difficult.
- Neighborhood CU shares RelyOn CU's values and will be able to serve you on a larger scale with 15 locations in North Texas. This is great news for RelyOn CU members because you will not have to go far to find a branch near you – especially in the DFW area. Your access within DFW will go as far as Highland Village, Prosper and Sherman to the north, Waxahachie to the south, Kaufman to the east and Arlington and Coppell to the west. Talk about convenience!
- Eventually, yes, we are working quickly to combine both credit union systems. It is expected to be completed sometime in 2025.
- Until the credit union systems are combined, RelyOn CU members cannot access Neighborhood CU branches or services until after we've combined both credit union systems.
- Yes. You will still be able to conduct your banking transactions at the Kaufman and Forney locations.
- You will have two accounts after the systems are combined. Your Neighborhood CU account will become your primary membership account. Your RelyOn CU account will become a secondary account. We will combine both accounts upon your request.
- Neighborhood CU is a larger financial institution than RelyOn CU and has the resources to provide more convenience and more services than RelyOn CU can. These are some of the ways you will benefit from becoming a member of Neighborhood Credit Union:
- Multiple checking and savings options, including accounts with cash back rewards, prizes for saving money and accounts for students.
- Loan rates comparable to or better than what RelyOn already offers, and access to more lending options.
- More banking locations throughout North Texas (15, will soon be 17 including Forney and Kaufman).
- Live chat online.
- Overall better technology for conducting your banking.
- Access to retirement and investment services.
