What is Alerts and Controls?
Alerts and Controls give our members complete control on how and where your debit or credit card works. Members can also opt-in to receive alerts that notify you of debit or credit card activity in real-time, so you will always know where your card is being used.
This new feature is more than just turning your card on or off and receiving alerts. You can also block transactions that you didn’t make on the following:
This new feature is more than just turning your card on or off and receiving alerts. You can also block transactions that you didn’t make on the following:
- Merchant types (Travel, restaurants, and gas stations)
- Transactions such as ATM, Mail/Phone Order, and Online
- International Merchants
- Spending limits
Where can I find Alerts and Controls?
You can gain access to this new feature in both Online Banking and the MyNCU Mobile App.
For Online Banking
- Debit & Credit Card > Card Management > Alerts & Controls
For MyNCU App
- More > Card Management > Alerts and Controls
Is this any different from Debit Card Lock?
Using Card Controls and Alerts, you can set real time alerts for transactions and the ability to block transaction types. Debit Card Lock does not offer this feature.
How do I lock my debit card?
Card Controls and Alerts will now be used to turn your card on and off as you once did in Debit Card Lock. You can do this in both Online Banking and MyNCU App.
For Online Banking:
- Additional Services > Card Controls and Alerts > Card Status > On/Off
For MyNCU App:
- More > Card Controls and Alerts > Card Status > On/Off
Reporting a Lost or Stolen Card
Members will continue to use Debit Card Lock to report your card as lost or stolen, as Card Controls and Alerts does not have that capability. As we introduce this new feature, we also have renamed Debit Card Lock to “Debit Card Lost/Stolen” to add clarity between the two. If you suspect your card to be lost or stolen, report it as soon as possible.
Troubleshooting Alerts and Controls
If you cannot access the new feature right away, your debit card may currently be turned off. Access Debit Card Lock in your MyNCU App and use the toggle to turn your card back on. Once the card has been turned back on, you will be able to access Card Controls and Alerts within 24 hours.
