School is out, the weather is warming up, and that means that summer is just about here. That also means that it’s time to get out, explore, and check out some fun activities happening all around DFW.
We wanted to highlight a few happenings this month to help you get your summer list started.
Vitruvian Nights Live
If you’re in the mood for live music, food trucks, outdoor games, and good atmosphere, Vitruvian Nights Live in Addison is a great way to unwind and relax.
Starting at 7 p.m. on June 13th, different cover bands will perform every other Thursday until August 8th. This month you’ll be able to hear the Emerald City Party Band and the Eagles Tribute Band. If you can’t make these shows, we have one more concert series you might be interested in.
The Art of the Brick
Head towards Downtown Dallas and stop by the Perot Museum to walk through its featured exhibit “The Art of the Brick.” You’ll see millions of LEGO® bricks used to create everything from Da Vinci and Van Gogh masterpieces to other structural marvels.
Artist Nathan Sawaya used bricks of all sizes to make a T. Rex, the Mona Lisa, Starry Night, and much more. This exhibit runs daily beginning at 10 or 11 a.m. until August 18th.
Concert by the Lake
Bring your lawn chairs, blankets, and coolers to The Harbor in Rockwall to enjoy free live music on Lake Ray Hubbard. With concerts by some of the best bands in DFW, this month you’ll be enjoy an Eagles Tribute, Journey Tribute, Heart Tribute, and Nashville Country Covers. We should mention that concerts run until August 1st, so be sure to go while you can.
Music isn’t the only thing The Harbor has to offer, you can grab a bite to eat before, during, or after the concert at one of the restaurants. Some even have patio seating that overlooks the Amphitheatre where the concerts take place.
Irving Canal Fest
Canal Fest celebrates cultures from around the world through music, dance, art, food, and other activities. Bring your family and explore many different nations and cultures all in a single afternoon. Taste authentic German bratwurst, turn the corner and hop into a Burundi drum circle, or master Middle Eastern belly dancing.
Canal Fest is on June 8th at Levy event Plaza in Irving and admission is free!
Taste of Dallas
Back for its 33rd year, the Taste of Dallas is a local food and drink festival that features over 200 chefs, restaurants, brands, and more, for you to come out and enjoy. This year there will be a cooking competition between two teams, each team featuring well-known chef who acts as a mentor for a high school or college student.
For the adults, you can also enjoy an art gallery, beer garden, winery, and more.
The event runs Friday, June 7th through Sunday, June 9th at Dallas Market Hall.
