What Causes Your Debit Card to be Blocked?
Published July 1, 2019
You’re at the store about to check out and your debit card get denied and blocked. We hope this never happens to you, but if it does, here is an explanation on why it might happen.
Normally debit cards can be blocked if there is fraud on the account so the fraudster can’t do any more damage to your account. However, there can be times where your card gets blocked because the store you went to has had a high volume of fraudulent charges made at the specific location.
This happened to one of our own employees who recently went to Target and had her card blocked even though she had NO fraud on her account. This was because our debit card processor had that Target location flagged as an area of concern thus blocking the card from making transactions.
If this happens to you, what you need to do is call our Member Services team so they can review your account and unblock your card.
