Neighborhood CU Needs Help in Identifying Suspect in Oak Cliff Crime
Published September 16, 2020
Still feeling the impact from the Monday morning robbery and murder of an ATM service contractor at its Oak Cliff location, Neighborhood Credit Union is continuing to aid local law enforcement and is appealing to the public for help in capturing the suspects.
“We are still shocked and deeply saddened by this violent attack in broad daylight on an innocent young father who was just doing his job,” said Chet Kimmell, president and CEO of Neighborhood Credit Union. The victim, 28-year-old Jose Montes, was an employee of TouchPoint 21, an armored vehicle and ATM service company that serves credit unions and banks throughout Texas.
Today, Neighborhood Credit Union added $25,000 to the reward being offered by the Dallas Crime Stoppers.
“Even as the Dallas Police Department investigates this terrible crime, we at Neighborhood Credit Union are doing everything in our power to help bring closure and justice for the family of Jose Montes,” said Chet Kimmell. “It is our hope that this extra incentive will motivate someone to come forward quickly with information that can lead to the arrest of the suspects.”
Kimmell also asked for continued prayers and support for the family of Montes, including his fiancé and 5-month-old son. Kimmell said Neighborhood Credit Union team members are contributing to the GoFundMe set up by the Montes family.
The credit union’s Oak Cliff location is one of three branches that has been closed since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in March, though its ATM has still been operational.
The oldest credit union in Dallas (chartered April 18, 1930), Neighborhood Credit Union is a member-owned, not-for-profit financial organization serving people in Collin, Dallas, Denton and Ellis counties, as well as the city of Arlington. Learn more at www.myncu.com.
