2019 Grand Prize Winner
What a wonderful way to begin 2020!
We surprised our 2019 Prize Savings Grand Prize Winner with some New Year's cash! When we showed Donald Kissinger the check, he was stunned.
Long-time member, Donald was convinced that Neighborhood Credit Union going to try and sell him something when we called and asked if we could come to his house. Little did he know, he had just won the Prize Savings Account 2019 Grand Prize of $49,999.99.
Saving since the age of 16, Donald said, "my dad taught me to put away 10 percent of anything I made." Well, it certainly has paid off! This was an especially emotional moment for him because he lost multiple people in 2019. An East Dallas native, Donald worked and retired with 3M Corporation with a career spanning over 35 years where he worked directly with the inventor of the Post-It Note. After retirement, he moved to Lake Highlands neighborhood to be closer to his elderly mother. What's next? According to Donald, he plans on putting most of his winning back into his prize savings. He also says he might spend some of it on a trip to Europe. “I was in Paris on 9/11 and have not been there since,” he said. “I think it might be time to go back to Paris after all these years.”
Started in 2007, Neighborhood Credit Union has offered the Prize Savings Account as a means to promote savings while making it fun. It was created during a time when savings were at an all-time low and has continued throughout the years, providing members a win-win. For every $25 monthly average balance in their Prize Savings Account, members at Neighborhood Credit Union have one entry to win. The greater the savings, the more chances a member has of winning.
